What does the PCC do?

The PCC (Parochial Church Council) promotes the advancement of Christianity and supports the Rector in the provision of services and worship. The Rector with the PCC manage the running of the parish. The PCC has responsibility for its buildings; for Woodstock that is just the Church itself however Bladon also own the church rooms and two houses which are rented out. Each PCC manages the finances of its parish. The PCC is a charity and PCC members, as trustees of that charity, must comply with charity law.

The PCC comprises a team of elected trustees together with the Rector, the churchwardens and elected deanery synod representatives. From time to time the PCC can co-opt a limited number of additional members. The size of the PCC depends on the number of people on the electoral roll. Elections are held during the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) which occurs each spring. To be elected to the PCC, you need to have been on the electoral roll for at least six months. The churchwardens are elected annually at a vestry meeting at which anyone from the parish is allowed to vote. The vestry meeting is normally held immediately prior to the APCM.
